The Doliche Project and the Forschungsstelle Asia Minor
We, the team of the Doliche project, are part of the Forschungsstelle Asia Minor from Münster. For currently more than 20 years, the project under the direction of Prof. Engelbert Winter has been active in the Gaziantep region in south-eastern Turkey. Until 2015 work took place on the Dülük Baba Tepesi, the ancient sanctuary of the city Doliche and home of the god Jupiter Dolichenus.
Since 2015, excavations have been taking place on the neighbouring hill of Keber Tepe, the centre of the ancient city of Doliche. Currently, our team consists of more than 60 international members – professors, PhD students, research assistants, students and a multitude of other workers. With this page we would like to give you a look behind the scenes and explain how we live and work during an excavation like ours.
If you want to read more information about the research results and the project in general, please have a look at our website.
